Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov said that more than 2 million Ukrainians have already received funds under the Winter eSupport program. He also named the areas where this financial assistance is being spent the most.
It was previously reported that more than 5 million Ukrainians applied for «Winter e-Support», also known as «a thousand dollars». The first payments began on December 10-11.
«Already 1.8 million adults and 520 thousand children have received 1,000 on the National Cashback card,» Mykhailo Fedorov noted in his Telegram.
According to him, most of this money was spent on:
communal services — 63%;
mobile communication — 17%;
donate to the Defense Forces of Ukraine — 4%.
«Payments are credited gradually. If you haven’t seen 1,000 on the card yet, wait, the bank will process the application, and you will receive the result,» explained the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs.
The start of payments for «Winter eSupport» became the basis for a media dispute between the co-founder of monobank, Oleg Horokhovsky, and the state-owned PrivatBank.
At first, Gorohovsky criticized PrivatBank for allegedly disclosing payment transaction data when processing a «thousand-dollar» card. Then he said that PrivatBank had threatened him with a lawsuit. When asked by dev.ua, PrivatBank said that «this is basically a standard card opening agreement and that all banks do this, but not all explain it to customers.» Gorohovsky’s message was viewed there as a competitive struggle.
Earlier, CEO of the EasyPay payment service Oleksiy Avramenko told dev.ua that Ukrainians took the opportunity to transfer UAH 1,000 received from the state as part of the Winter e-Support into cash.
«Unfortunately, we were forced to disable the „money back“ function for Vodafone and Life subscribers. Because there are „especially smart“ Ukrainians who decided to abuse the idea of 1,000 UAH „Winter eSupport“ in this way. The service will not work for everyone due to the misuse of state aid,» he wrote.
«We are forced to turn off the ‘cash back’ function.» EasyPay CEO admitted that Ukrainians were using the payment service to cash out «Winter eSupport»
