Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko responded to a petition regarding the introduction of VAT for individual entrepreneurs, noting that consultations are currently underway with representatives of business and the expert community regarding the threshold for mandatory registration as a value-added tax payer.
At the same time, she reported that to date, no legislative initiative on this issue has been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers from the Ministry of Finance.
Svyrydenko also recalled that in connection with granting Ukraine the status of candidate for membership in the European Union, the main direction of tax policy regarding VAT is to harmonize the norms of our tax legislation with the provisions of the relevant EU Council directive.
At the same time, the aforementioned directive establishes that each state determines the threshold for mandatory registration as a value added tax payer.
The Prime Minister also assured that legislative changes on this issue will not affect the majority of individual entrepreneurs.
