The solution with the working name ForgeCheck was developed by Metinvest Digital, an IT company from the Metinvest group, Forbes reports .
According to Maksym Balanyuk, head of the Metinvest Digital R&D center, the projected savings from using this solution can amount to up to $250,000 per year.
Previously, Metinvest had been testing artificial intelligence since 2021, in particular, at the Mariupol plant, the technology worked to determine the quality of scrap metal and other production processes, and at Zaporizhstal, the company began using AI since June 2024.
The main savings for the company are a reduction in the percentage of customer complaints. «We also save on electricity, because the heated metal does not sit idle due to the slab being delayed at the cutting stage,» adds Balanyuk.
According to him, the priority for next year is the launch of the second version of the AI tool into industrial operation.
