The National Bank of Ukraine has imposed sanctions on the fintech company NovaPay, which is part of the NOVA group. Following the inspection, it was fined a total of about UAH 8 million for violating the rules of operation in the payment market and insufficient protection of customer rights.

According to the official website of the NBU, the decision on sanctions was adopted by the Committee on Supervision and Regulation of Banking Activities on May 4, 2026. The basis was an inspection of the company’s activities, which continued at the end of 2025.
The regulator divided the sanctions into two main areas. The company received the largest fine of UAH 4,882,959 for violating the Law «On Payment Services», in particular regarding the organization of cash work, the procedure for opening accounts, and disclosure of the secrecy of the payment service provider.
Another fine of UAH 3,116,100 was imposed for violation of consumer lending requirements and additional requirements for consumer contracts. In addition to financial sanctions, the NBU issued a written warning to the company. NovaPay now has 14 days to pay the fines and is required to eliminate all identified deficiencies in its work by June 25, 2026.
The company acknowledged the fine and stated that it would not appeal it.
«The main complaints related to payment processes, and we are now almost fully compliant with the requirements of the law. This did not affect customer funds and the stability of services,» NovaPay commented.
We would like to remind you that earlier the National Bank of Ukraine imposed a fine of UAH 1.7 million on FC «WAY FOR PAY» LLC for violating Ukrainian legislation regulating activities in the payment market.
Last month, the NBU also announced a UAH 255,000 fine on Ukrposhta JSC for failing to submit information/documents within the established deadlines. The national postal operator paid the fine, but will appeal it in court.
