This is reported by «Ekonomichna Pravda» with reference to the NBU’s comment.
Earlier, monobank co-owner Oleg Gorohovsky said that one of the financial institution’s clients conducted video verification in the banking application against the background of the Russian flag. According to him, this was the reason for blocking her accounts.
«The National Bank, within the framework of its functions of consumer protection and supervision, is analyzing the circumstances of this situation and has sent the bank a request for explanations regarding the circumstances of the dissemination of information that could have been obtained during the identification or verification procedures of a client and may constitute banking secrecy,» the NBU said.
The National Bank refused to comment on the situation and will give its assessment of Oleg Horohovsky’s actions only after receiving the bank’s response and verifying all the facts. If the NBU finds violations, it may apply measures against monobank.
«Supporters of Russian peace in Ukraine will not have any protection of personal data. After 12 years of war, we cannot guarantee any data protection for collaborators. If you love Russia, avoid us,» Gorokhovsky previously commented on this case.
Later, military and public activist Sergei Gnezdilov wrote that he managed to contact the girl and find out that she was allegedly taking a photo against the background of the Slovenian flag, not the Russian one.
Social Media Marketing Manager at Fozzy Group Sofia Dutchak believes that Oleg Horohovsky actually published a fragment of an internal banking process.
«Even if there were no card numbers or financial data, it’s still part of the KYC procedure. And such things should not become content in principle. In any of the areas,» Dutchak wrote on X (Twitter) .
According to her, if the girl was really taking pictures against the background of the Russian flag, Monobank should have filed a complaint with the SBU or other authorized state bodies.
«A bank is an institution. It is neither a court, nor media, nor an instrument of public punishment. The bank has clear procedures. These are internal processes that take place without public humiliation of a person on social networks… Even suspects under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine have their faces blurred,» noted Sofia Dutchak.
