NBU simplified the rules for taking cash abroad: what documents are now required

The National Bank of Ukraine has supplemented the clarifications regarding the list of documents that citizens must provide when taking cash currency abroad in the amount of more than 10,000 euros in equivalent.

The relevant changes were announced by MP Olga Vasilevska-Smaglyuk.

As noted by the State Customs Service, from now on, to confirm the withdrawal of cash from the account, it is sufficient to provide a statement of the movement of funds from your own bank account. It is no longer necessary to submit additional cash documents.

What documents confirm the withdrawal of funds?

In addition to the statement of cash flow, the following can also serve as supporting documents for customs officers:

  • payment instruction for cash withdrawal;

  • ATM receipt, payment terminal receipt or slip;

  • receipt for the currency exchange transaction.

Key terms and conditions and restrictions

The regulator emphasizes the fulfillment of several important requirements.

  1. Validity period: Cash withdrawal documents remain valid for 90 calendar days from the date of issue.

  2. Account holder: only personal withdrawals by the holder from his own accounts in Ukrainian banks are confirmed.

  3. Prohibition for representatives: if money was withdrawn from the account by a representative by power of attorney, he does not have the right to use these documents to confirm the source of the cash when taking the funds abroad.

At the same time, the department reminded that the requirement for mandatory written declaration of cash exceeding the equivalent of 10,000 euros remains in force and mandatory.
