NBU will introduce a mandatory identifier for interbank transactions: what does this mean for customers

From April 1, 2026, banks are required to notify users about the status of interbank payments, the NBU reports .

• the SEP participant sending funds must inform the payer that the payment transaction was executed using SEP means and its unique identifier (Unique End-To-End Transaction Reference — UETR);
• the SEP participant receiving funds - inform the recipient of funds that the payment transaction was executed using SEP means and about its UETR ;
• the sending SEP participant — informs the payer about the rejection of the payment transaction by another SEP participant or the SEP processing center , indicating the reason and its UETR.

"Such innovations will increase the transparency of payment transactions and make it possible to track the stages of their execution," the financial institution noted.
