Most of all, novice IT professionals value the opportunity to work remotely (17%), receive a high salary (14%), and develop professionally (13%), according to the EPAM Ukraine press release.

At the same time, the youngest respondents more often want to «be useful» and «change the world,» while the older category mentioned criteria such as work-life balance and having health insurance.
«The basic criteria for novice specialists remain unchanged. However, we observe that young people are trying to be more useful and expect the same from the company, paying special attention to the brand’s values. Social initiatives, the opportunity to be involved in volunteer projects and, of course, to develop at their workplace are important for future specialists,» notes Denis Hrynyov, head of educational programs at EPAM Ukraine.
«The feeling of happiness of being in your place. The childlike excitement when you go to bed and think about how wonderful tomorrow will be,» one of the survey participants described his dream job.
Others noted that they would like to «work for the benefit of humanity,» «create cool products on the level of Tony Stark,» and that «your dream job doesn’t require waking up at 6-7 a.m.» Also among the criteria are «high salaries and free coffee.»
58% of respondents indicated that they already work in IT or combine work with studies. The war influenced the choice of profession for 51% of respondents, 74% are following popular specialties on the market.
Previously, Front-end Developer Denys Stepanets published a job opening for a junior that stirred up the community. The candidate is offered $200–300 in rewards, but the requirements for the developer «look like the company is looking for a superhero.»
