He reported this in an interview with the publication "Oboronka". According to the military, the owner of one of the enterprises independently purchased and installed powerful electronic warfare equipment around his facility, without coordinating their work with the Defense Forces. During another attack by Russian kamikaze drones of the "Shahed" type, six crews of Ukrainian interceptor drones were unable to take off on a mission.
"The entrepreneur himself bought electronic warfare equipment, placed it near his facility, and because of this, during the attack, our drones were unable to take off to intercept, because their control channels were jammed," Skoretsky explained.
The head of the Electronic Warfare Department of the Ground Forces noted that effective protection of a critical facility is not just a set of antennas, but a complex ecosystem integrated into the overall air defense network.
"This is not a bunch of antennas around an object. This is a large system of means that can be stretched for kilometers. We calculate the optimal places for electronic warfare means using certified software. Specially trained people determine exactly where the antenna should be located in order to achieve maximum results in protecting this particular object in combination with other available means," said Maksym Skoretsky.
He added that business has the right to own electronic warfare equipment and ensure its operation, but decisions about when, how, and against what targets to turn on the equipment should be made only by the military under a unified command.
According to Skoretsky, there are cases when civilians install dome car systems designed to protect against FPV drones (operate at a distance of up to 100 meters) on tall towers near factories, mistakenly believing that this will protect them from strategic drones.
“We often have ‘every gopher in the field is an agronomist.’ But a real agronomist is someone who has a tractor and who rents this field together with the director of an agricultural company,” the head of the EW department pointed out.
Recently, a Ukrainian military officer and UAV crew commander said that interceptor drone operators sometimes have to blow up their drones in mid-air because they reacted to the loud sound of a motorcycle or moped.
