According to a study published in early February by Chaeyoung Lim from Michigan State University, USA, and his colleagues, dissatisfaction with appearance is linked to fatigue from virtual meetings through services like Zoom.
According to the scientific website Phys Org, this phenomenon has significant implications for workplace productivity and individual self-perception.
The study involved 2,448 American employees who regularly participated in virtual work meetings.
The survey assessed participants' negative perceptions of their own faces, as well as behaviors to manage these perceptions, such as using retouching to enhance their own videos and using video filters or avatars when using Zoom.
«The results showed that people who report increased dissatisfaction with their facial appearance experience greater fatigue from virtual encounters, which then leads to greater use of impression management features,» the study explains.
At the same time, as dev.ua previously reported, Zoom is rebranding and becoming an AI company. In October, Zoom 2.0, an AI companion, was launched with improved summarization and assistance tools, which «will transform into a fully customizable digital twin.»
