This was announced by the Minister of Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin.
KNDS Deutschland is a German engineering company, the main activity of which is the production of military equipment and armored vehicles. It was founded by the German company KMW and the French company Nexter. Among its products are the Leopard 1 and Leopard 2, the Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery mount, and the Dingo armored car.
The newly created company in Ukraine will specialize in the maintenance and repair of military equipment supplied by a German company to the Defense Forces, starting in 2022.
According to Smetanin, Ukrainian specialists have already been trained in Germany, and the first systems have already been installed at the facilities.
"This is extremely important for our defense capability - because now the equipment will be repaired faster. Which means it will be returned to the front faster to perform combat missions. Also, the work of the joint venture will significantly support our economy with investments and jobs," the minister noted.
