Not a “bubble” and not a monopoly: Sigma Software Group CEO predicted the future of the AI market
According to Sigma Software Group CEO Valeriy Krasovsky, the key difference between the current situation and the dot-com crisis of the early 2000s is that AI technology is already bringing real benefits and increasing business efficiency.
According to Sigma Software Group CEO Valeriy Krasovsky, the key difference between the current situation and the dot-com crisis of the early 2000s is that AI technology is already bringing real benefits and increasing business efficiency.
Sigma Software Group CEO Valeriy Krasovsky noted in an interview with dev.ua that despite the unprofitability of most companies in the field of artificial intelligence due to colossal costs for energy and computing power, a market collapse according to the "dot-com bubble" scenario of 2000 should not be expected.
Krasovsky draws parallels with Uber, which existed for decades with investor funds and became profitable only a few years ago.
Furthermore, the financial system's response to recent crises (such as the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank or the problems of Credit Suisse) has shown that the global economy is ready to quickly "print money" to maintain liquidity. So there will be resources to finance the technological race.
The main prediction concerns the structure of the future market. The CEO of Sigma Software Group believes that the scenario of YouTube, which once displaced all competitors and became a monopolist, will not be repeated in the field of AI.
"I think that in this race, not one player will survive, but a market with several strong solutions will form," Krasovsky concluded.
At the same time, he noted that not all companies will be able to keep up with the pace of the race, and some players will inevitably leave the market.
Valeriy Krasovsky also shared insights about the state of the DefTech industry in Ukraine and which companies with the potential to grow into "unicorns" should be looked at by investors.
Recall that the rapid growth of spending on artificial intelligence has already caused a number of crises. In particular, the price of RAM has increased , which is already in unprecedented shortage for both users and companies.
In addition, in 2022, global electricity consumption by data centers already exceeded the combined consumption of France and the United Kingdom. By 2027, the energy required to operate AI could be equal to the consumption of entire countries , such as Sweden or Argentina.
