The Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, together with specialists, publicly presented a series of Magura naval strike drones. Among them is the Magura V7 drone, which for the first time in history destroyed an enemy combat aircraft.
«Magura sea drones are the latest technological weapons, thanks to which the fighters of the GUR Group 13 special forces unit managed to turn the situation in the Black Sea in favor of Ukraine», — the special service noted.
Over the two years of use, various modifications of the Magura drones have hit a total of 17 sea and air targets of the aggressor state Russia in the Black Sea, 15 of which were completely destroyed: in particular, two enemy Mi-8 helicopters, two Su-30 fighters, large ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet «Sergey Kotov», «Ivanovets», «Tsezar Kunikov» and other ships. The losses of the Russians from the actions of these drones are estimated at over $500 million.
Among the drones presented by GUR at the presentation were:
A Magura V7 with missiles that shot down a Russian plane;
Magura V7 with combat machine gun module.
It is noted that the «elegant Magura V7» has two AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles on board, with which GUR special forces shot down two Russian Su-30 fighters with a total value of over $100 million.
Military expert Mykhailo Samus noted that the evolution and combat successes of drones in the Black Sea waters are leading to a revision of naval doctrines in other countries of the world; it is obvious that the classic large-tonnage fleet of the 20th century is losing to the latest unmanned vehicles.
The Maritime Autonomous Guard Unmanned Robotic Apparatus (MAGURA) V-type is a new generation multi-purpose unmanned surface ship developed by the Ukrainian state-owned company SpetsTechnoExport.
