17-year-old Danilo Kovalev, who was forced to move from Mykolaiv due to a full-scale Russian invasion, is developing a mobile app called OffGrid with a team of teenagers that helps to overcome addiction to fast dopamine.
As reported by Ukrainska Pravda, in the application the user can choose courses in mathematics, chemistry, geography and other topics that interest him. OffGrid has tasks for completing these courses, as well as texts for which points are awarded.
According to Kovalev, there are three types of tasks in the application:
for one action — for example, reading the material;
long tasks;
marathon — for example, reading 15 pages within a month.
Earned points can be exchanged for promotional codes and coupons from partners. The developers plan to receive these rewards in exchange for advertising from partners in the application and monetize it in this way.
«With a promotional code, you can get, for example, various courses. These can also be applications where you buy books. Or various goods and services that can be obtained from companies such as Rozetka, Nova Poshta, Monobank, Prometheus, and Bookmate. That is, you can cooperate with many companies,» explains Danylo.
In addition to the standard free version, a paid PRO version is also planned. It will have exclusive tasks, challenges, access to other courses, and no advertising.
OffGrid also uses AI technologies to create task instructions and verify their completion.
«For example, in tasks where you need to add a photo, screenshot, or code analysis, this will be done by artificial intelligence. This will simplify the work and save a lot of money in development,» the developer says.
The app is currently in the MVP stage. The OffGrid team estimates the full development of the app and its support over two years at around $280,000. They are now looking to find their first users and start applying for grants.
Danilo Kovalev enrolled at the Technical University in Kosice, Slovakia, and dreams of creating his own game in the future. According to him, Ukraine remains a priority for the launch of OffGrid.
«This will be a support for Ukraine, Ukrainian teenagers. And in general, I think it’s easier to start from where you live,» the developer emphasized.
