CD Projekt Red is preparing a free remaster of The Witcher 3 and Ukrainian localization
CD Projekt Red has announced an updated version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered. The edition will be released on September 29, 2026 as a free update for all owners of the original title on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and will also receive a native version for Nintendo Switch 2, which has already been pre-ordered. In addition, the game will feature official Ukrainian text localization for the first time.

The edition will be released on September 29, 2026 as a free update for all owners of the original title on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and will also receive a native version for Nintendo Switch 2, which has already been pre-ordered. In addition, the game will feature official Ukrainian text localization for the first time.
The Polish developer announced this during the Opening Night Live broadcast at the Gamescom exhibition.
The Witcher 3: Remastered features a significant overhaul of the graphics and gameplay. The developers have added support for the PlayStation 5 Pro, adaptation for the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as Nvidia DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 2.0 technologies. Visual improvements include Path Tracing, ray tracing for hair, and new Witcher mark effects. The game will also be available for the first time on Blizzard’s Battle.net store, where its purchase will include a bonus Geralt skin for Diablo 4.
Among the game’s innovations are a refined combat system, updated horse control, changed monster behavior, an expanded skill tree, new finishing moves, cross-platform mods, immersive meditation, and an expanded photo mode. Switch 1 owners will be able to get the Switch 2 version at no additional cost.
In addition, the developers showed the first teaser for the new story expansion «Songs of the Past», which will be released in 2027 as a paid expansion for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. It will take Geralt to the new region of Letten — an idyllic land with rich folklore traditions, where «an ancient evil lurks beneath the surface.»
However, the «Songs of the Past» expansion page on Steam states that it will not have the Russian voice acting that was present in the original game and the first two DLCs. Instead, the game will feature official Ukrainian localization for the first time.
«Given our decision to cease cooperation with tax residents of Russia and Belarus from March 2022, the add-on „The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past“ will not have Russian voice acting. When the add-on is launched, the sound will automatically switch to Polish. The text will still be fully translated, and the Russian voice acting will remain in the main game and its first two add-ons,» the developers explained on social networks.

The Witcher 4 is our biggest, boldest and most ambitious game yet,» said Michal Nowakowski, Co-Chairman of CD Projekt Red.
The release of the third expansion, Songs of the Past, is scheduled for 2027, and the release of the next full-fledged part of the series, The Witcher 4, is expected in 2028.
