OpenAI launches ChatGPT Gov, built specifically for use by the US government. AI will help government employees simplify their work tasks and improve data security.
Since the beginning of 2024, according to OpenAI, more than 90,000 federal, state, and local government employees have generated more than 18 million queries within ChatGPT, using the technology to translate and summarize documents, write and draft policy memoranda, generate code, and build applications.
The ChatGPT Gov user interface is similar to the ChatGPT Enterprise interface. The main difference is that government agencies will use ChatGPT Gov in their own Microsoft Azure commercial cloud or Azure Government community cloud so they can manage their own security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
ChatGPT Gov includes many of the same features that ChatGPT Enterprise offers, including saving and sharing conversations, uploading text images and files, interpreting and summarizing text, code, images, and math.
ChatGPT Enterprise, which underpins ChatGPT Gov, is currently undergoing the Federal Risk Management and Authorization Program, or FedRAMP, and has not yet been accredited for use with non-public data, CNBC writes .
OpenAI said ChatGPT Gov will be available in the “near future,” and customers will be able to test and use the product in real time “within a month.”
