Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he plans to release his Optimus robots for sale by the end of 2027.
He made the announcement at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Fox Business reports .
«Humanoid robotics is going to develop very quickly. We have several Tesla Optimus robots performing simple tasks in the factory,» Musk said.
In his opinion, by the end of this year they will perform more complex tasks and still be used in industrial environments.
«By the end of next year, I think we will be selling humanoid robots to the general public. That’s when we will be confident that they have very high reliability, very high security, and also very broad functionality. You can ask them to do almost anything,» said Elon Musk.
Musk has stated that humanoid robots will eventually outnumber humans because «everyone on Earth will have a robot like this and want one.»
«Who wouldn’t want a robot, provided it’s very safe, to take care of your children, to take care of your pets. If you have elderly parents — a lot of my friends say that taking care of elderly parents is very difficult,» Musk believes.
Recall that during a conversation with investors at the announcement of Tesla’s third-quarter results, CEO Elon Musk again threatened to leave if he was not approved for a $1 trillion compensation package. He also made some strange statements about the scaling of Tesla’s Optimus robots .
