A Ukrainian developer has created a free app for recording the operation of generators in condominiums. It counts engine hours, fuel, and reminds you of maintenance.
Ukrainian developer Yuriy Valigursky has created Generator Tracker, an application for tracking generator operation, fuel costs, and maintenance. The tool may be useful for condominiums that received generators under the state program "SvitloDIM" and now need to monitor their operation and costs.
The developer spoke about the application in Threads. According to him, it is free for iPhone, works without the Internet and does not require registration. For Android, the developer is preparing a free Lite version, which is currently in the testing stage.

The developer spoke about the application in Threads. According to him, it is free for iPhone, works without the Internet and does not require registration. For Android, the developer is preparing a free Lite version, which is currently in the testing stage.
What Generator Tracker can do
The application allows you to keep track of the operation of one or more generators on your smartphone. Instead of writing in a notebook or spreadsheet, the user can record equipment starts and stops, fuel consumption, and maintenance.
Hourly Hours Tracking. Start and stop the timer with one touch. The app counts the generator’s operating time, and missed or inaccurately recorded sessions can be added or corrected later.
Fuel log. The user records the amount of fuel filled, and the application calculates the average consumption in liters per hour.
Maintenance reminders: You can set oil, filter and spark plug change intervals based on engine hours, calendar days or both.
Statistics: The app shows running time and fuel consumption by month, allows you to compare generators, and view overall metrics across multiple devices.
This can help those responsible for equipment to systematize data on its use, and heads of condominium associations to prepare a clear report for the co-owners of the building.
Why this can be useful for condominiums
In January 2026, Ukraine launched the state program "SvitloDIM", which helps apartment buildings purchase equipment for autonomous power supply. The amount of assistance depends on the characteristics of the building and ranges from UAH 100,000 to UAH 300,000. Funds can be used, in particular, for generators, inverters, batteries, and solar panels.
As of October 15, 2026, according to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, 2,977 apartment buildings received funding under the program. The program has also been expanded to Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Poltava, and Sumy regions. <Cite refs={["turn180368search1","turn180368search6"]}/>
Purchasing a generator is only part of the job. Once installed, you need to track how much it runs, how often it needs to be refueled, and when maintenance is due. This data can also be useful when residents want to understand what they are spending their money on at home.
It is for this kind of accounting that the developer suggests using Generator Tracker. At the same time, in the post, he does not claim that the application automatically generates official reporting for the SvitloDIM program.
Export to Excel is not yet available.
The developer is already collecting user feedback and inviting heads of condominium associations to tell them what data they need to show to co-owners.
Possible future improvements include exporting data to Excel. This feature is not currently available, but the author asks if it is needed for reporting and what metrics should be added first.
The application works offline, and records are stored on the device. An account is optional: it is required if the user wants to synchronize their data between devices. The project is open source under the MIT license.
