Ukrainian developer launches interactive 3D browser PC Anatomy for studying computer architecture

A Ukrainian IT enthusiast has presented the open-source project PC Anatomy — an interactive 3D browser that allows you to study in detail the structure of a desktop computer and its components in a regular web browser. Users can "disassemble" a PC from the external ATX case to the internal microarchitectures of graphics and central processors.

The project was created by a developer under the nickname Yoosseph, who made the source code publicly available on GitHub along with a functional live demonstration.

The tool allows you to explore about 300 individual components, each of which contains a name, detailed description, technical specifications and an explanation of its purpose. The system reproduces the real dimensions of the ATX standard and detailed models of modern components, including NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and Intel Arc B580 graphics cards, as well as AMD Ryzen 9 9950X and Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processors.

The technical feature of PC Anatomy is that there are no third-party 3D models or graphic textures. All polygons are generated directly in the TypeScript code using the three.js library when the page loads.

The interface includes a scale tree, a teardown timeline with auto-animated capabilities, search by parts, and a component isolation feature. When you dig deeper into a graphics card, you can see its cooling system, vapor chamber, printed circuit board, and the logic structure of the chip, all the way down to the stream multiprocessors and vector engines.

"Instead of reading long texts about PC components, you can explore the computer in 3D, click on individual parts and find out what they are for. I wanted it to be more like actually disassembling a computer and independently exploring its components," the author of the project notes.

The developer also clarified that while creating the tool, he selectively used AI assistants to speed up coding, debugging, and documentation, but the architecture, design, integration, and final solutions remained under his personal control.
