UPD. The VR-glasses explosions that injured Russian drone pilots were a GUR operation. Before sending the explosive glasses to the Russians, they were tested on the heads of pigs
The soldiers of the Russian occupation army received a batch of VR glasses with an explosive implanted in them that detonated when the gadgets were turned on. Sources of the Suspilne newspaper claim that specialists from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine were behind this operation.
According to the publication’s sources in the special services, an explosive device was installed inside the goggles that were given to the FPV pilots by Russian volunteers. For this purpose, a large batch of FPV goggles was purchased for the pilots of the Russian army.
As part of this operation, Ukrainian specialists modified a batch of FPV goggles intended for drone pilots by embedding remote-detonated explosive devices in them. These goggles were given to the Russian military under the guise of charitable aid from Russian volunteers. Several explosions occurred while using the modified goggles, resulting in serious injuries, including loss of vision, to at least 8 Russian drone operators.
According to reports, C-4 explosive, a detonator and a battery were found inside the glasses, and the device was activated when the cooling fan was started.
«Over time, there will be many more such facts, because now they are making glasses with a surprise for the Russian occupiers not only in the Ukrainian Carpathians, but also in Russian Siberia,» sources in the special services note.
UPD. New details have emerged about the GUR operation to mine the VR goggles of Russian drone pilots.
As Militarny reports with reference to Babel, Ukrainian experts tested explosives in glasses on the heads of dead pigs. This is evidenced by published photographs, which reveal that the glasses contained only a few dozen grams of explosives. However, this turned out to be enough to cause serious injuries.
It is noted that we are talking about 80 sets of Skyzone Cobra FPV goggles for various units of the Russian army. A plastic explosive weighing 10-15 grams was hidden under the case in place of the cooler, next to the temple. The detonator circuit was connected to the power button and initiated the explosion when the goggles' cooling fan started.
This operation is reminiscent of the methods previously used by the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad against Hezbollah militants. As is known, the Mossad planted explosives in 5,000 pagers imported by the Lebanese group Hezbollah. After detonating a coded message, dozens of Hezbollah operatives were killed and thousands more were injured.
Israeli intelligence is suspected of being behind the pager bombings in Lebanon that injured about 3,000 Hezbollah operatives. How was this possible? Analysis
