The organizers of the online indie game festival Indie Cup announced the winners of the Ukraine'24 season, dedicated to Ukrainian indie games. This year, two projects shared 4 nominations.

The judges of the festival’s competitive program selected the best projects among 18 participants who advanced to the second round of the competition in four nominations, the press release states.

The four prize places were shared equally between Awita: Journey of Hope by 16-year-old developer Vadim, a pixel metroidvania about a brave girl saving her town from an epidemic, and Shine On, My Little Sun by the duo Forpixie Studio, a picturesque visual novel with point-and-click elements about the adventures of the Sun, which fell from the sky, in the last town of humanity.

Winners of Indie Cup Ukraine'24:

  • Gameplay Excellence Award nomination — Shine On, My Little Sun (Forpixie Studio).
  • Critics' Choice Award nomination — Shine On, My Little Sun (Forpixie Studio).
  • Creators' Choice Award nomination — Awita: Journey of Hope (ant_game_dev).
  • Rising Star Award nomination — Awita: Journey of Hope (ant_game_dev).

This year’s Indie Cup Ukraine was the third season of the festival exclusively for Ukrainian developers. The jury of Indie Cup Ukraine'24 included experts from CD Projekt RED, Red Beat, Remedy Entertainment, Bloober Team, ZA/UM and other companies, as well as game journalists, video bloggers and independent developers. In total, the jury of this year’s festival included 80 experts from the gaming industry.

The Palaye team (formerly known as GPT Media) has been organizing the Indie Cup since 2016, providing independent developers with a free platform to promote their projects. Another of our goals is to integrate the independent game development community of Ukraine into the European cultural space; Ukrainian games are evaluated not only by the Ukrainian jury, but also by professionals from all over the world. Separate seasons of the Indie Cup Ukraine have been held since 2022.

Ukrainian developers participating in Indie Cup Ukraine'24 will receive an invitation to the Ukrainian Games Festival 2025 on Steam, which is held as part of the Ukrainian Games initiative.

The organizers of Indie Cup Ukraine also announced that they will soon announce a special nomination for participating games, within which a large fundraiser will be held for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

We will remind you that this year’s Ukrainian video game festival, organized by Palaye, received support from Valve and was displayed on the Steam homepage. For the first time, during its holding, Ukrainian studios announced their new projects, among which were: a cooperative horror shooter in the spirit of SCP, a souls-like platformer inspired by Sega’s Comix Zone, as well as a card roguelite from the creators of Puzzles For Clef.
