An AI service for finding lost animals has been launched in Ukraine: how PetRadar works, which wants to be similar to the monobank application
Ukrainian developer Denys Lishchuk has launched a free AI-based service for finding lost animals — PetRadar. The service works on the basis of image recognition and allows you to find animals by photo — without viewing hundreds of ads on social networks.
Ukrainian developer Denys Lishchuk has launched a free AI-based service for finding lost animals — PetRadar. The service works on the basis of image recognition and allows you to find animals by photo — without viewing hundreds of ads on social networks.
How the service works
The idea is simple: the user uploads a photo of a lost or found animal, after which the system analyzes the animal’s face, creates a «visual fingerprint,» and looks for matches among other ads.
In fact, this is an analogue of face recognition, but for pets.
As the author of the project notes, the key task is to eliminate manual search and make the process as automatic as possible.
What PetRadar already knows
At the time of launch, the service has fairly complete functionality:
AI search by photo
automatic cross-matching (the system automatically compares found and lost animals)
email notifications when matches occur
up to 3 photos per animal (for accuracy)
automatic location determination from photos (GPS)
generation of a PDF flyer with a QR code
map with all the animals in the region
animal page with the possibility of sharing
support for 23 languages
The service is free and works without advertising.
According to the author, PetRadar tries to follow the monobank approach: minimum clicks, simple and clear interface, focus on convenience, modern design
That is why the developer is publicly asking for feedback on how to make the product even closer to this standard. Despite the technically well-thought-out product, the team faced a typical problem of early startups. As the author notes, the main difficulty is not to create the product, but to «bring it to people.»
