"If you are an IT specialist, I won't let you do anything else": the commander of the 25th brigade explained why the DShV needs programmers
A modern airborne assault brigade needs not only infantrymen and stormtroopers. In the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade, servicemen can choose a specific position through a recruiting center, and the command tries to use IT specialists by specialty.
A modern airborne assault brigade needs not only infantrymen and stormtroopers. In the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade, servicemen can choose a specific position through a recruiting center, and the command tries to use IT specialists by specialty.
This was stated by the commander of the 25th Brigade, Ilya Petryna, in an interview with ArmiaInform.
According to him, servicemen who come through the recruiting center choose their own position, and the brigade guarantees that they will get exactly that position. «Servicemen who go through our recruiting center choose their own position. We guarantee that they get exactly the position they chose,» he noted.
The commander mentioned IT specialists separately. According to him, if a specialist with the appropriate skills comes to the brigade, they do not plan to use him in another job. «If this is an IT specialist, then I will not allow him to do anything other than develop software or work in R&D laboratories, improve technical means so that they kill the enemy better,» Petryna noted.
He explains this approach not only by the need to create more comfortable conditions for the military, but also by the need to effectively use specialists.
«All specialties are needed,» he noted.
The technological component of the 25th Brigade, according to the commander, is much broader than the use of drones.
In particular, the brigade was one of the first to have a company of ground robotic complexes — initially as a test structure. Today, the NRCs are used for various tasks: transporting cargo, evacuation, and fire-fighting the enemy.
«We probably have all the technologies that are currently known in this war,» Petryna said.
At the same time, the technology for the brigade, according to him, is not just ready-made equipment that the military receives from the manufacturer. The unit directly interacts with companies that develop and produce military systems.
The mechanism looks like a constant feedback loop: the military uses the equipment at the front, records its shortcomings and needs, transfers information to the manufacturer, who makes changes to the product. «Cooperation with manufacturers is the basis. They draw information from us about what is needed now, what is relevant at the front,» he noted.
According to the commander, such interaction allows for faster adaptation of equipment to real combat conditions.
