A petition calling for a review of the presidential program to pay Ukrainians 1,000 hryvnias (also known as "winter support") has garnered more than 25,000 votes, according to the website of the Office of the President.
The petition was published on November 14.
According to the author of the petition, Roman Stan, the "winter thousand" payment program has a number of shortcomings. In particular, the lack of understanding of the source of funding, the dissonance between raising taxes and additional spending, and most importantly, the lack of targeting.
The initiator of the petition emphasizes that several categories of citizens need support — pensioners, low-income families, families with many children, IDPs, etc. At the same time, for a household with an average salary, these funds will not be so important.
The author calls on the president to direct funds to other government programs, for example, "eOselya".
"On the basis of the above, I am asking you to send the funds under this program directly, exclusively to persons who really need it," writes the author of the petition.
We will remind you that earlier the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the government to introduce a new support program from December 1. According to it, citizens will be paid a one-time benefit in the amount of 1,000 hryvnias. UAH 5 billion is provided for the implementation of the program.
Cash assistance can be used to pay for utilities, purchase medicine, transport, donate to the Armed Forces, and other social needs. The program will be valid until the end of February 2025, and it will be possible to spend the aid until the end of next year.
Due to this, a new functionality will appear in the state application "Diya", which will simplify the process of receiving money. "Winter isSupport" will be brought to the main screen of "Actions".
