Bread, milk, gasoline and a Netflix subscription. The State Statistics Service may add subscriptions to online services to the calculation of the consumer price index
The Head of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, Arsen Makarchuk, said that a separate subscription to ChatGPT is unlikely to appear in the consumer set, but he does not rule out the appearance of a unified subscription to online services.
The Head of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, Arsen Makarchuk, said that a separate subscription to ChatGPT is unlikely to appear in the consumer set, but he does not rule out the appearance of a unified subscription to online services.
Makarchuk said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine in response to a question about potential changes in consumer spending.
According to him, the consumer survey could be updated after household data is collected. Their surveys were not conducted for about three years after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, but preparations are currently underway to resume the collection of statistics. A pilot survey was launched in the Ternopil region last week.
«I don’t think that in the next update we will include ChatGPT subscription in the consumer price index, but perhaps some cumulative subscription to services, starting from Google One and ending with Netflix, could be included, because many people use these services,» Arsen Makarchuk noted.

The consumer price index is a measure of how the average price level of goods and services purchased by households for personal consumption is changing. It is also called the inflation rate for the population, as it shows how much the cost of a «consumer basket» is increasing or decreasing.
The consumer set includes numerous food products, clothing and footwear, fuel and lubricants, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, housing and utilities, healthcare, and other items.
The State Statistics Service has published statistics on average salaries by industry. Aitutaki are in the top, their remuneration increased by over 37% over the year
