Ukrainian localization team Lazy AI has announced its new indie project called Dungeon Inspector. It is a text adventure in the bureaucrat simulator genre, where the player takes on the role of a 30-year-old civil servant — a junior occupational health and safety inspector at the Ministry of Magic.
According to the developers, the idea for the project arose after completing the translation of the famous puzzle game The Talos Principle. The gameplay is based on a humorous contrast between epic fantasy and the routine of office life. Instead of fighting monsters with a sword, the main character uses penalty forms and dungeon safety instructions (DSE).
The team has already developed the necessary tools and prepared the first 100 scenes, totaling about 7,000 words in Ukrainian. In addition to writing the plot, the developers are working on the musical accompaniment and creating a specific visual sequence in the ASCII art style.
«Forget about swords and magic — your real weapons are bureaucracy, BZH instructions, and penalty forms! Explore ancient corridors and check monsters for safety regulations,» the game description says.
Players are promised a wide range of choices: from being an honest inspector to receiving «voluntary donations for landscaping» or inciting the undead to a union riot due to the violation of the rights to «eternal peace.» The game will have a terminal interface and a system of branching endings that will depend on the inspector’s decisions.
Dungeon Inspector already has a page on Steam, where the project can be added to your wishlist.
