Ukrainian startup Pleso Therapy has raised $1.2 million in funding to further grow in the European market. The key investors in this round were Vchasno Group and TA Ventures, and boxer Oleksandr Usyk acted as an angel investor. How will the company use these funds?
The platform is currently active in Poland, Romania and Ukraine; it has already hosted over 150,000 sessions for over 20,000 users. At the same time, over 80% of the company’s sales already come from customers from EU countries, and sales have tripled in the last year alone, the press release notes.
«We have always set a goal to attract only those investors who provide direct value for the development of our product — and this round raised the bar of value to a completely different level. Vchasno.Group provides marketplace expertise, TA Ventures — know-how and connections in healthtech, BADIdeas Fund — a community of successful founders. Our task is to use this expertise 200%», — commented CEO and co-founder of Pleso Therapy Oleksandr Bondarev.
According to Forbes Ukraine, in addition to Vchasno Group and TA Venture, boxer Oleksandr Usyk also joined the round as a business angel. He previously invested in two promising international startups with Ukrainian roots, which are part of the portfolio of the angel syndicate ICLUB. Its founder is Victoria Tigipko from TA Venture.
Among Pleso Therapy’s early investors were Oleg Oksyuk (AllRight), Petro Chernyshov (ex-CEO Kyivstar), Valeriy Reshetnyak (Robota.ua), United Angel Network, and BUKI CEO and co-founder Vadym Synzheretsky.
How Pleso Therapy plans to use the raised funds
The $1.2 million investment will be focused on several key areas. The company is building a strong team of marketing and product specialists working at the intersection of healthtech, artificial intelligence, and social impact.
At the same time, AI functions for deeper personalization are being developed — therapist selection algorithms are being improved, and the user experience is being improved. The team is scaling the client base in the EU through engagement channels with an emphasis on a «healthy unit economy». The B2B direction is also being strengthened: the company’s clients include Intellias, N-iX, Ciklum, Uklon.
«We invested in Pleso because we have extensive experience in marketplaces and believe in this business model… Today, more than ever, it is important to take care of mental health — and we are happy to support a service that helps people receive high-quality psychological support», — said Mykola Palienko, co-founder and CEO of Vchasno Group.
«Pleso offers not just a platform, but a holistic ecosystem for psychological support. We at TA Ventures are pleased to support this project and believe in its potential to change the mental health market in Europe. We will help the company grow through our global network of partners and experience in the healthtech sector», — commented the round, founder and managing partner of TA Ventures Victoria Tigipko.
Pleso is currently planning to launch in new European countries, increase personalization for corporate clients, increase the team, and enter new market segments.
