This was stated in an interview with the publication "Ukrainska Pravda" by Colonel Pavlo Elizarov, who is currently involved in the process of forming a team in the small air defense command.
According to him, the military has moved away from the practice when regional units did not pay attention to drones that simply flew in transit over their region. Now strict accounting has been introduced: how many devices entered the area of responsibility and how many left it. The approach to radar coverage has also changed. Radar deployment is now not at the request of the crews, but exclusively according to a certain logic, which is based on constant analysis of errors after previous attacks.
Ukrainian interceptor drones are actively used to destroy targets. Elizarov notes that modern models are already capable of speeds of up to 700 km/h, effectively turning into analogues of cruise missiles in terms of their characteristics.
However, for their effective operation, three mandatory components are required: radar support, the quality of the device itself, and a high level of pilot training. Without radar, launching a drone at night is an expensive and pointless decision. The colonel himself admits that, although he comes from the drone industry, he trusts short-range missiles more as an interception weapon.
The main problem of modern small air defense, says Yelizarov, is the lack of systematicity and extremely low efficiency of using people. The audit showed a critical imbalance in the effectiveness of the units. Of the more than 300 analyzed crews, 66 shot down more than ten "shaheeds", while 170 crews did not hit a single drone for the whole year.
"When we talk about human resources — whether there is a lot of them or not — I believe that even the resources that have already been mobilized are enough for us. They just need to be used effectively, structured, and analyzed," the colonel emphasized.
As a reminder, dev.ua published an article about private air defense in Ukraine. Private groups are already successfully destroying aerial targets, including Shahed kamikaze drones, Zala reconnaissance UAVs, and even the latest jet versions of Shaheds.

Контракт на дослідження та розробку для 10 дронів SwitchBlade 600 виробника Aerovironment, очікується протягом наступних 30 днів, заявила прес-секретар Пентагона Джессіка Максвелл в електронному листі до News Defense.
