According to Axios, posts on X and Facebook appeared on the political accounts of Democrat Connolly, who died in May of this year, reminding people to vote early and saying that the late Connolly supports Walkinshaw.
«Let’s honor this legacy and vote for courageous leadership that will fight for us every day,» the post on the X platform reads.
The publication did not provide information about who managed Connolly’s accounts, but it is known that he did indeed support Walkinshaw during his lifetime.
Connolly also reportedly sent fundraising emails in support of Walkinshaw, according to Axios. Connolly’s congressional campaign website now features a photo of him with Walkinshaw, as well as a letter from Connolly in which he supported Walkinshaw before his death.
A poll published by the Walkinshaw campaign shows him managing to hold onto the lead with 41%, well ahead of his rivals.
At the same time, Axios reminds us that this is not the first time this year that the social media accounts of a deceased House Democrat have unexpectedly «resurrected.» Previously, the account of the late Representative Sylvester Turner (Democrat of Texas) on X began following fellow congressmen and journalists, despite the death of its owner.
