Ukrainian educational platform Pravozno became one of 12 startups that received €10,000 in funding from the Seeds of Bravery initiative in the Business and Innovation Services category at the end of May.
dev.ua spoke with CEO and Co-founder of Pravozno Mykhailo Ponomarenko and learned more about how the platform works.
Pravozno is an online platform for preparing for mandatory state exams in Ukraine, which «combines classical educational approaches with modern technologies: personalized learning trajectories, gamification elements, and adaptive analytics».
According to Ponomarenko, since Pravozno is primarily an EdTech product, its main focus is on adapting educational materials for better user absorption.
«Our main pride is our in-house developed IT solution — an LMS platform with a scalable architecture that allows for rapid expansion into new products and markets without the need for additional development and provides a better user experience.»
The startup’s CEO said that currently Pravozno covers preparation for exams in law, IT, and logic, and the developers are actively scaling the content part. The product has already passed the MVP stage and has tens of thousands of registrations and thousands of trained users.
How Pravozno gamifies learning and uses AI
Gamification in Pravozno is a system that promotes the achievement of learning goals, accompanied by visual progress, dynamic missions, and the ability to compete with other users in real time.
According to Mykhailo Ponomarenko, the startup pays special attention to motivating the segment of users prone to procrastination — those who «find it difficult to learn and who need additional impetus in the form of challenges, mini-goals, and a reward system».
«We are currently testing the use of AI to build an adaptive learning trajectory: the system analyzes the user’s answers, time to the exam, and previous results to prioritize topics in which the student has progress or weaknesses. We are also working on a system for determining the probability of passing the exam — based on the user’s behavioral data and success patterns from previous years,» explains Ponomarenko.
He added that the startup sees the prospect of using an AI assistant in the support service to quickly respond to user requests. Pravozno is also already using AI tools to create product content and manage social networks.
About the team, investments and monetization Pravozno
The core team consists of 10 experienced professionals: developers, marketers, designers, teachers, and educational materials coordinators. The founders have deep expertise in law, management, EdTech, and development.
The company’s main partners are:
Mykhailo Ponomarenko — CEO, founder of the platform and author of materials, lawyer, Doctor of Philosophy in Law, Master of Management.
Iryna Sinyook — SOO, lawyer, 7+ years of legal practice, author of educational materials.
Denys Turchak is a CTO, lead developer with 7+ years of experience in creating scalable educational platforms. Expert in cloud solutions, software architecture, and innovation in EdTech.
«We also attract additional expertise for individual projects if necessary. For example, this year we attracted an outsourced team of marketers who conducted qualitative research on our users for triggers, motivators, and factors that discourage them from purchasing educational products,» notes Ponomarenko.
He said that Pravozno began as a printed collection of materials for preparing for the law exam in 2018. The revenue was used to develop an online educational platform «in its original form.» In essence, it was a site for taking tests, as well as familiarizing yourself with materials on the exam program.
«Today, Pravozno is a full-fledged EdTech product that has already attracted grant support in the amount of €35,000, in particular from UASEEDs / Seeds of Bravery, who supported us as a team developing the Ukrainian startup market in wartime conditions»
The product is monetized through direct B2C sales of courses and tests. The price depends on the course, and on average ranges from 500 to 5000 UAH. Soon, the startup plans to release a demo access function to a limited number of materials and tests to familiarize users with the learning format. B2B directions are also being tested — cooperation with universities and student parliaments.
«The product is profitable, but taking into account the fact that partners do not receive payments, but reinvest funds in scaling the project,» notes Mykhailo Ponomarenko.
Pravozno’s main users are 3rd-6th year students preparing for master’s degree or taking mandatory professional exams. According to Ponomarenko, the platform already has over 10,000 registered users, and its reg-to-buy conversion rate is currently around 30%.
Future plans
«Today, we have a clear roadmap for the next 12–18 months, covering both the expansion of subject coverage and the technological evolution of the platform», — said the co-founder of Pravozno.
The startup’s plans include:
Expanding the product line. Working on launching preparation courses for EFVV and EDKI in other specialties, as well as expanding the EVI direction. The goal is to turn Pravozno into «the only universal platform for preparing for state exams in Ukraine.»
Technological strengthening. Implementation of a single personal account that unites all products and records the user’s life cycle in the system. Developers will continue to develop gamification, implement new AI personalization algorithms, and improve the analytical block through Big Data.
Development of the B2B direction. Strengthening cooperation with universities and providing them with «flexible educational products in an outsourcing format» — from ready-made courses to customized modules for internal use.
«We would also be interested in integration with state services to simplify the submission of applications for admission to higher education institutions and, in fact, the conduct of exams to reduce the bureaucratic burden,» said Mykhailo Ponomarenko.
