There are no rules for distributing gambling advertisements in online media — National Council

As the media regulator reported, the current Law «On Advertising» establishes updated requirements for gambling advertising for various types of media. In particular, among other things, it provides for the permission of gambling advertising in online media registered in accordance with the Law of Ukraine «On Media» and intended for persons over 21 years of age.
«The National Council, in accordance with the procedure provided for in Article 63 of the Law of Ukraine „On Media“, carries out registration of online media.At the same time, the Media Law does not contain a mechanism for implementing the provisions of the Law of Ukraine „On Advertising“ regarding the designation of a particular media as intended for persons over 21 years of age and does not provide for entering information about this into the Register of Media Entities. The Law of Ukraine „On Advertising“ also does not provide for requirements for labeling, criteria and a mechanism for classifying media as intended for persons over 21 years of age,» the report says.
The National Council drew attention to the fact that the Law «On Advertising» establishes: joint regulatory bodies in the media sector determine the requirements for the distribution of gambling advertising in the media by adopting relevant codes (rules).
«As of today, the joint regulatory bodies in the media sector have not yet adopted any codes (rules) that define the requirements, criteria, and mechanisms for the distribution of gambling advertising in the media,» the National Council said in a statement.
