The release was announced by Artem Borodatyuk, the founder of the FRACTAL business ecosystem, on his LinkedIn, noting that the service is designed to save time on small routine actions.
«There are things that situationally take 2-5 seconds, it seems like a small amount, so it’s easy to get used to it and not notice it for years. I like to optimize any seconds that can be saved, because every second saved eventually accumulates into hours of life», he noted.
Unlike classic automatic layout switches, OwlySwitcher does not change the text arbitrarily. The application works exclusively in response to hotkeys: Alt+Space corrects the last word, Ctrl+Alt+Space — the entire line, and Alt+Shift+Space — the selected fragment. In this case, the program determines the source language independently and switches the layout along with the text. If the correction turned out to be accidental, the action can be undone with the Alt+Z combination.
The second module of the program is a clipboard manager, which is opened by pressing Ctrl+Alt+V or from the system menu. It remembers up to 100 of the last copied fragments with the ability to pin the most frequently used entries to the top of the list. The developers paid special attention to privacy: the history of copied text is stored exclusively in RAM (only pinned texts are written to disk), and the program does not record fragments from password managers at all. Keystrokes are not logged, analytics are not collected, and the text remains on the user’s device.
The third tool is AutoText, which allows you to set up templates for quickly entering standard phrases, signatures, or email addresses using text labels with prefixes (for example, «@@mail» or «;signature»), which eliminates accidental triggering within words.
The program is available for macOS and Windows. Users get a 7-day fully functional trial period without registering, creating an account, or linking a bank card. After the trial ends, there are no automatic charges. The cost of a quarterly subscription is $9.99, an annual subscription is $19.98 (discounted instead of $39.96), and a lifetime license is also available for $49.95. One license is designed for 2 devices with the ability to unbind old machines when changing computers.
