As Futurism reports, citing an interview with the NYT, last year Garth wrote over 200 romance novels and self-published them on Amazon, which has long been overflowing with AI content.
None of the writer’s «books» that she published were hits, but in total they sold about 50,000 copies, which allowed the woman to earn over $1 million. It is noted that during the Zoom interview, she finished writing the book in just 45 minutes.
«If I can write a book in a day and it takes you six months to write a book, who wins the race?» says Garth.
Even before Coral Hart mastered AI, she was already an accomplished writer of erotic novels. She also started a business teaching other authors how to write novels using modern technology. She claims to have trained over 1,600 people, and a significant portion of her lessons are dedicated to how to get around the limitations of various chatbots that prevent them from writing explicit texts.
Garth also focuses on trying to revive the bots’ clunky prose. She recommended creating a «list of nasty words» that the AI should avoid, lest it overuse them. She also suggested giving the AI a detailed list of sexual preferences.
Currently, many experienced authors are concerned that they are being drowned out by newcomers who rely on artificial intelligence.
«It’s disrupting the publishing ecosystem that we all rely on to make a living. It’s making it harder to discover new authors because the swamp is full of shit,» says Marie Force, a bestselling romance author who was shocked to learn that her novels were being used to teach Claude without permission.
It is noted that Coral Hart is also not the author’s real name, but a pseudonym she uses to teach courses on artificial intelligence. Her books are published under other pseudonyms because the woman does not want to disclose her use of artificial intelligence due to public condemnation.
