Senior Software Engineer Dmytro Mostovlyuk has been fascinated by the topic of movie quizzes for a long time. Having accumulated a lot of unique material, the IT expert decided to create his own thematic application QuizHUB.
QuizHUB is a free mobile application available on Android and iOS in Ukrainian.
The essence of the game is as clear as possible from the first seconds: the application shows you a frame from a movie, and your task is to correctly guess the film. However, behind the simple mechanics lies a huge knowledge base: over 100 unique quizzes and more than 5,000 questions.
What's inside:
Cinema A to Z: movies sorted by the first letter of their title.
All genres: drama, comedy, horror, science fiction, romance and more.
Cinema in Colors: guess the movies by the color in their title.
Series: Netflix, HBO, Amazon, Apple TV+ and others.
Year by year: one quiz for each year from 1980 to today: guess the top films of each year.
Decades of Cinema: The Best of Every Decade, from the 1940s to the Present.
Animation: Disney, Pixar, and childhood classics.
Professions in cinema: doctors, lawyers, cops and journalists on screen
According to the developer, the main value of QuizHUB is careful manual moderation. Each quiz is not a random set of frames, but a separate work of the developer. All films are selected so that they organically combine into a single concept.
To keep the solving process from getting boring, QuizHUB has progress, passing statistics, and a leaderboard.
QuizHUB is the first mobile app developed by a Senior Software Engineer, so getting feedback is especially important for it.
"Since I do this myself and for my family, it's very valuable to hear honest feedback: what's annoying, what's missing, where it's inconvenient. I don't care about insults - it's better to be polite, it will only make the application better," the developer wrote on Reddit.
