Reddit blocks top subreddit after Musk's correspondence with the platform's CEO
Almost two months ago, Elon Musk publicly attacked the platform for blocking links to X on some subreddits. This came after Musk was accused of using the Roman salute.

Now it has emerged that Musk also personally wrote to Reddit CEO Steve Huffman in parallel with these posts, The Verge reports . After their correspondence, Reddit blocked the WhitePeopleTwitter subreddit for 72 hours, where government department employees were discussing DOGE. The discussion to which Musk referred also disappeared.
When The Verge asked Reddit about the coincidence, a spokesperson said the platform takes any rule violations seriously and responds to complaints regardless of how they come in. Musk did not respond to a request for comment.
Word of the conversation quickly spread among Reddit moderators. In their private Discord chat, one of them wrote, “Musk took over /r/Comics,” implying that that subreddit also blocked links to X. Another moderator called Elon “a big baby.”
Not everyone was so positive, though. One moderator noted that while Musk shouldn’t be controlling Reddit, the platform should still remove real threats. Another agreed, but added, “The problem is that he can influence both public and private institutions.”
Musk has repeatedly blocked links to competitors on X, and the platform's CEO has been at odds with many people. Last month, Musk called the former astronaut and current U.S. senator a "traitor" after he visited Ukraine.
