The company announced the launch of the product on its official social networks, accompanying the release with a detailed warning to users about the high risks of investing in digital assets.
Revolut launched a marketing campaign under the slogan «Physical crypto card. Very light. Very sensitive to touch», playing on the popular internet meme about a Shiba Inu dog. The new tool supports instant asset conversion during payments and does not provide for exchange fees within the limits of the user’s selected tariff plan.
The device is currently available to customers in the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA) countries, excluding Hungary, Switzerland and Portugal. The first batch of cards has been released in limited edition.
Along with the presentation of the card, Revolut issued a stark warning about the dangers associated with the crypto market, which remains high-risk due to volatility, threats of cyberattacks, and technological failures.
«Do not invest unless you are prepared to lose all of your invested funds. This is a high-risk investment and you should not expect protection if something goes wrong,» the company said.
The fintech giant also separately emphasized that the British Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) does not cover investments in cryptocurrencies, as they are not recognized as official investment products under local financial regulation.
Earlier, Revolut’s Head of Expansion, Dmytro Strelchuk, announced that he was leaving the company after seven years. He noted that during his time at the company, Revolut had grown from 40 people to a company with over 10,000 employees and became a world-renowned brand.
