The competition will be held in Yelabuga, Republic of Tatarstan. Slidstvo.Info has established the location where the participants are planned to be placed, having received information from one of them. The publication not only checked him through several stages of selection, but also gained access to internal chats and tournament regulations.
This is the second time that Dronecon has been held in Tatarstan. Last year, according to Russian media, the tournament attracted over 1,000 participants, but then it focused mainly on FPV drones. This year, the format has been expanded.
According to «Slidstvo.Info», the organizers associate the event primarily with the training of specialists for the military use of drones, in particular for working with Russian strike UAVs of the «Geran» type. That is, it is no longer just about drone sports races.
Participants were selected through the online game «Drone Battle. Ukraine», after which they went through several stages of training and testing and provided documents to the organizers. The tournament is organized by the Russian community «Stalin’s Falcons», which positions itself as a military-technological association around drones. According to journalists, participation in «Droncon» can also become a way for participants to further engage in Russian units that operate with UAVs.
Yelabuga, where «Dronkon» takes place, is also important for this story because of the complex located there.«Alabuga», where Russia produces strike drones, in particular «Gerani», with which it attacks Ukraine.
«Slidstvo.Info» previously established data on almost 1,200 employees associated with the production of drones at the Alabuga enterprises.
