The relevant resolution was signed by the head of the Russian government Mikhail Mishustin, the Russian version of Radio Liberty reports. The document states that the purpose of the restrictions is to «protect national security» of the country. The ban on the import of space communication equipment will be in effect for at least six months after it comes into force.
The enemy army is already feeling the consequences of limiting access to Elon Musk’s satellite network. Due to the loss of stable communication, the control of Russian troops has become less flexible, and the speed of reaction of units on the battlefield has significantly decreased.
Earlier, the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov noted that Ukraine, together with SpaceX, has implemented mechanisms to block the operation of Starlink in the hands of the Russians. In particular, mandatory verification of all terminals operating on Ukrainian territory was introduced. This decision significantly limited the enemy’s ability to use satellite Internet on Shahed-type kamikaze drones.
«The number of their streams from the front line has decreased 11 times, and the interception of radio broadcasts has increased significantly,» Fedorov commented on the verification results.
