«A situation recently happened that reminded me well: being attentive when looking for a job is mandatory,» developer Oleksii Ovsiannikov began his story on LinkedIn.
After the message from the recruiter, there was a call from the company’s service center.
«They talked about my experience very superficially, without technical questions. And after that, they made me an offer,» the developer wrote.
Then a request was received to immediately send all the documents for the contract: passports (foreign and domestic), TIN, individual entrepreneur statement, bank details.
This alarmed the IT guy and he asked for an official contract. But he was sent one that looked unprofessional and did not correspond to what was being discussed.
«I directly wrote that such a document was not serious. After that, they simply stopped contacting me,» added Oleksii.
From this situation, the developer made several conclusions:
a quick offer after a superficial conversation is already suspicious;
documents are transferred only after signing the contract;
the official contract must be from the same company that was originally mentioned;
If there are any strange conditions in your Gmail details, that’s a «red flag.»
