A team of developers from Ukraine has released Safe, an app for quick check-ins during air alerts and dangerous situations. The project was created by people whose family and friends serve in the military.

The idea is simple: instead of writing to dozens of chats or answering calls during an alarm, the user clicks once and all loved ones see their status. Available options: «I’m safe,» «In shelter,» «Behind two walls,» or «I’m in danger.» Relatives receive a push notification immediately after the update. If someone is silent for a long time, you can send a gentle ping without calling or panicking.

The application is focused on closed circles of trust, not public feeds: the user decides who sees his status and location. The location can be set automatically or manually. There are no ads, basic functions are free.

The team recently released a major update: they added integration with real-time air alerts, new security statuses, and full English language support — so that Ukrainians abroad could also use the application.

Eva Potoretska, Mykhailo Korotchenko, Iryna Mishchenko, Natalia Kalashnikova, and Nazariy Hryhorash are working on the project.

Safe is available for iOS and Android. The project website is meetsafe.org .
