Samsung introduces Galaxy S26 flagship smartphones with display privacy feature

Samsung announced the new Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra smartphones at the Unpacked conference. What new features did they get?

Samsung Galaxy S26

The top-of-the-line Samsung Ultra S26 features a 6.9-inch AMOLED QHD+ display with an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz to 1Hz. It has a 5000mAh battery and supports Super Fast Charging 3.0 technology, which allows you to charge the device up to 75% in 30 minutes with 60W charging.

On the back of the Samsung Ultra S26 is a 50MP ultra-wide camera paired with a 200MP camera that is 47% brighter than the previous generation model. There is also a 50MP telephoto camera that is 37% brighter than previous versions. There is also a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

Samsung has brought back the S Pen stylus, which doesn’t support Bluetooth. Samsung removed the feature from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, citing low user interest.

The Ultra S26 received 12 GB of RAM along with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and versions of 256 GB or 512 GB of storage with 12 GB of RAM, as well as 1 TB of storage with 16 GB of RAM.

Privacy Display feature

One of the most interesting features of the S26 Ultra is its new Privacy Display. It uses two types of pixels to hide the content on the screen from those sitting nearby, making the display visible only to the owner.

The user can enable this feature for individual apps or leave it enabled for everything. The idea is that it could be useful for apps like banking or private messaging.

Samsung has already opened pre-orders for the Galaxy S26 Ultra; the phone will go on sale on March 11th with a starting price of $1,300.

Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+

The Galaxy S26 features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 411 pixels per inch, while the S26+ features a 6.7-inch QHD+ display with a resolution of 516 pixels per inch. Both feature adaptive refresh rate technology ranging from 1 to 120 Hz, depending on the content on the screen.

Samsung has dropped the 128GB model for the S26 series, so users can only choose between 256GB or 512GB of storage with 12GB of RAM. Both the S26 and S26+ are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

The cameras on both devices are the same: a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera. Unlike the S26 Ultra, these models only have one telephoto camera, but they feature the same 12MP front-facing camera as the more expensive phone.

The S26 is equipped with a 4300mAh battery, which is increased to 4900mAh in the upgraded version. The S26+ supports 45W wired charging and 20W wireless charging, while the S26 is limited to 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

Both phones are now available for pre-order and will also be released on March 11. The S26+ costs $1,100, and the S26 costs $900.

Lots of AI in S26

The Galaxy S26 series features many AI updates, including support for Perplexity in the Galaxy AI Assistant. The Perplexity app is also preloaded on the phone.

Each S26 series camera features more AI-focused enhancements, including improved night vision and Super Steady Video with horizon lock that reduces shake.

Other features include Audio Eraser to improve voice quality by reducing background noise in videos, improvements to Creative Studio to add AI-powered image editing changes, and a new screenshot organization feature.
