The cybersecurity unit of Nova Poshta has discovered fake debt letters being sent by scammers. How the scheme works.
The cybercriminals' letters state that the user allegedly has a debt to Nova Poshta, and if it is not repaid, the case will allegedly go to court. The message, purporting to be from the company’s «pre-trial settlement department,» contains a fake copy of the court claim and an invoice for services.
«These emails have no relation to Nova Poshta or any other company in the NOVA group. Fraudsters copy the company logo, replace the sender’s address, and pressure people with fictitious debts to force them to open attachments or click on links,» the company warned .
Novaya Poshta told how to protect yourself from scammers:
- Letters from Nova Poshta come only from official domains. You should pay attention to suspicious changes or spelling errors.
- You should not open emails from unknown senders and do not click on links.
- If the link was opened, you need to change your passwords.
- It’s worth enabling two-factor authentication for email, instant messengers, banking, and other important accounts.
«The cybersecurity unit of Nova Poshta is already working to stop this phishing campaign and is interacting with relevant services and providers to limit the activities of fraudsters,» the NP assured.
