PrivatBank users have begun receiving warnings about a new type of fraud related to fake online surveys.
«Under the guise of paying cash prizes for answering a few simple questions, criminals gain access to people’s personal financial data and debit money from bank cards», PrivatBank said.
The Ukrainian Cyber Police had previously warned about this scheme. It was noted that scammers were distributing links to online surveys on social networks and messengers, allegedly from well-known banks, promising money for completing them.
Such messages contain a link to a fake page stylized using the official identity of the bank. On the «survey» page, the user is asked to enter a phone number, a code from SMS, and a PIN code. These data are then used by fraudsters to access other people’s accounts and steal funds.
«If you have received an SMS, information message, letter, etc. about a prize, to receive which you need to urgently pay tax, duty or enter your personal data, scammers are trying to deceive you,» PrivatBank says.
The institution reminded that they do not ask customers to provide their bank card number, expiration date, PIN code, CVV2 code, password in Privat24, or passwords received via SMS.
