Journalists from LIGA.net visited the construction site and told how it is arranged.
«For a rocket to fly, its ass has to be on fire,» Iryna Terek jokingly explained the importance of building such a plant.
Initially, the company purchased a ready-made building in Denmark where it planned to carry out such production, but it later turned out that from the point of view of Danish legislation it was not safe enough due to the thin walls.
«We thought we could simply install the equipment in the existing workshops and start production within three months. But during negotiations with the Danish authorities, it became clear that we would not be allowed to produce more than 5 kg of rocket fuel in these buildings at one time,» said Vyacheslav Bondarchuk, CEO of the Danish branch.
According to him, the company had to go through numerous rounds of bureaucratic approvals.
«To comply with all safety requirements, we submitted our rocket fuel for analysis to several of the best laboratories in Europe, developed action scenarios in the event of sabotage and other emergencies,» he explained.
The company received the final results of these analyses and confirmation of the product classification only in March 2026.
From March to June, Fire Point developed a construction plan, and in mid-July, they received all the permits and finally began construction.
An interesting fact is that a fire department is located next to the current plant site. «If there’s a fire, they don’t even have to go anywhere. They can just throw a hose at us and that’s it,» joked Iryna Terek.
There is another extraordinary fact associated with the construction of the plant in Denmark.
«When we were coordinating the environmental project for construction, it turned out that a rare worm lives in the planting nearby. And if we drive piles, it will get stressed and die. That’s why we had to switch to impact-free foundation development,» shared the CEO of Fire Point Rocket Technologies.
The most difficult thing, he said, was obtaining a waste management permit.
«After using a mixer to mix rocket fuel, small pieces of this fuel remain in it. In Ukraine, this is solved simply: it is poured into a pit and burned. But at this plant we will have a much larger volume of this waste, which is more dangerous for nature, so we had to involve three research institutes that helped us understand how to decompose the waste into safe fractions so that no dangerous mixtures get into the soil,» he said.
Thus, two-thirds of the decomposed substances are planned to be reused, and the rest to be disposed of.
For production safety reasons, the thickness of the concrete walls of the main workshop will be 90 cm.
The plant will create jobs for at least 300 people: both local residents and Ukrainians, including refugees living in the EU.
We previously reported that the production area at Fire Point’s solid rocket fuel plant in Denmark will be 120,000 m², and its launch is planned for the end of 2027.
