Google's Gemini CLI AI Agent: Now with an Open Ecosystem of Extensions for Figma, Shopify, and More
Just two days after launching apps in ChatGPT, Google introduced Gemini CLI Extensions, a new feature that allows external companies (including Figma, Stripe, and Shopify) to integrate with their command-line AI system.
Just two days after launching apps in ChatGPT, Google introduced Gemini CLI Extensions, a new feature that allows external companies (including Figma, Stripe, and Shopify) to integrate with their command-line AI system.
The key difference is that access to ChatGPT applications is tightly controlled, while Gemini CLI extensions can be published without any approval or involvement from Google. All of them will be available in open repositories on GitHub and will be installed manually by developers, TechCrunch writes .
Gemini CLI Extensions allows you to integrate with the AI agent services such as Dynatrace, Elastic, Figma, Harness, Postman, Shopify, Snyk, and Stripe, as well as solutions from Google: Cloud Run, GKE, Firebase, Flutter, Maps, Genkit, and others.
But the very first extension available was Google’s own Nanobanana image generator, which was released to GitHub last week. Once installed, the extension allows users to generate images directly from the Gemini CLI terminal.
Each extension contains a built-in playbook that instantly teaches artificial intelligence to effectively use new tools, the company's blog says .
To install the extension, simply type “gemini extensions install <add your GitHub URL or local path>” in the command line.
Extensions work through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Як нейромережі бачать вільну та незалежну Україну? Тест dev.ua
