According to Mashable, Aurora’s AI image generator doesn’t allow images of nude bodies, but it does allow a lot more than other generators, which prohibit users from adding copyrighted works or real people to the prompts.
In the summer, Elon Musk’s company xAI already tested the beta version of the Grok 2 and Grok 2 mini AI models, which have an image generation function. The first users reported that it has practically no filters and restrictions, and AI researcher Christian Montessori told how dangerous this model is.
However, Aurora appears to be a new image generator that is different from the previous one. The Grok chatbot was previously reported to be trained on user data, so it’s possible that Aurora was also trained on these datasets.
«We have improved Grok’s ability to generate images with a new model, codenamed Aurora. This is an autoregressive network trained to predict the next token from alternating text and graphic data. We trained the model on billions of examples from the Internet, which gave it a deep understanding of the world,» says the xAI company.
Because of this, Aurora should be good at recognizing photorealistic images and responding to cues. It can also generate readable text on an image and react to images uploaded by the user.
The latest Grok model is currently available on X in «select countries» but will be available to all users «within a week.» If the user sees «Grok + Flux» in the list of available models, it means that they do not yet have access to Aurora.
If access is available, an X Premium subscription will also be required to fully use Aurora. For users without a subscription, 10 requests are available every 2 hours.
