PewDiePie designed Ajax specifically for Odysseus, his own AI space that runs locally. The model can search the Internet, work with mail, calendars, and to-do lists. The author himself says he wanted to make it small enough so that users could run the model on their own PCs.
To make Ajax less likely to refuse to answer requests, PewDiePie used the open-source tool Heretic. He explains this as an attempt to remove some of the mechanisms that force it to say "no" from the model. But the blogger decided to leave the restrictions on requests related to harming oneself or others.
While training Ajax, Chelberg tried to use distillation, an approach in which the responses of a more powerful model are used as training data for a smaller one. To do this, he said, he turned to an OpenAI model. However, the company’s policies prohibit using its responses to develop models that compete with OpenAI.
After that, Chelberg's account was blocked, and in a message from the company, the reason was cited as distillation. After an appeal, access was restored, but later, according to the blogger, he was blocked again.
PewDiePie notes that Ajax is far from the final version. According to him, the model is still very small. During tests in the Odysseus environment, it successfully copes with the tasks about nine times out of ten. So he continues to train and test it before release.
