A schoolboy from Kyiv region has come up with a way to protect drones from enemy electronic warfare. Plans to launch the development into mass production

Vadym Dobrovolskyi, a schoolboy from Skvyra, Kyiv region, has developed a system that can protect various types of domestic drones from enemy electronic warfare.

«My device, which can be connected to any type of drone, solves this problem using artificial intelligence. In the event of a loss of communication, it automatically switches the drone to another frequency that is not affected by EW. This allows us to save the drone and the safety of the operator,» Dobrovolsky said in a mini-interview on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Dobrovolsky is a pupil of the Skvyra Center for Children and Youth Creativity and a student of Skvyra Academic Lyceum #2. His startup participated in the final of the World Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge in November 2024 in New York.

«Since childhood, I have been fascinated by electronics and create various devices that make everyday life easier. When the full-scale war began, my father went to the front, and from that moment on, I decided that all my projects would be aimed at supporting our defenders. My father became a drone operator, and then I learned the risks he faced while working. This motivated me to create a device that helps to store drones and protect operators from danger,» the young man shared his personal story.

According to him, at the World Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, the young inventor found a mentor who is now helping him form a startup team.

Dobrovolsky’s immediate plans are to form a team that will help scale the startup, as well as to patent the device and launch it into mass production.

As dev.ua previously reported, Arina Khmeliuk, together with her sister Diana, created an AI system for garbage sorting and presented their startup at the World Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge in New York.
