90% of Ukrainians know about AI, but only 37% have used it at least once — study

Last year’s study noted that 64% of Ukrainians do not use AI. In 2026, about 63% of the population will actually not use AI, of which:

• 10% are hearing it for the first time and don’t know what it is;
• 41% know about AI, but have never used it;
• another 12% only tried it, but do not use it further.

KIIS notes that the level of awareness of Ukrainians about the technology is quite high (about 90% know about AI), but the actual implementation in everyday practice lags significantly behind. At the same time, about 37% of the population has at least some experience using AI (including at least irregular use). Among them:

• 17% — every day or almost every day;
• 10% use it several times a week;
• Another 10% use it less frequently (several times a month or even less often).

Thus, 27% of Ukrainians are regular users of AI (at least once a week), compared to 26% last year.

«These data indicate that Ukraine is at the stage of active, but not yet mass, implementation of artificial intelligence technologies. On the one hand, a high level of awareness has been formed, on the other hand, there is a significant gap between knowledge and practical use,» the researchers believe.

The highest level of regular use is among 18-29 year olds, with over half (58%) of this group regularly using AI. This compares to just 36% of 30-44 year olds, and just 9% of those aged 60 and over. This could indicate a significant digital divide between generations.

The largest year-over-year user growth occurred among 30-44 year-olds (from 21% to 36%) and 45-59 year-olds (from 9% to 25%). Among 18-29 year-olds, growth was at trend level from 54% to 58%, and among 60+ year-olds — from 4% to 9%.

KIIS notes that the use of artificial intelligence in Ukraine is gradually increasing, but the pace of this growth remains moderate.
