OpenAI plans to release an early version of a new ChatGPT feature that will help turn it into a digital assistant, Bloomberg writes .
The new feature will allow users to ask ChatGPT to remind them to walk the dog every morning or tell their children a bedtime story. The chatbot will send a text notification at a specific time.
Over the two years of its existence, ChatGPT has gathered over 300 million active users every week who contact it with a wide variety of requests: from finding the right synonym for a word to analyzing statistical data.
So with the new feature, OpenAI is trying to make ChatGPT more useful throughout the day. It will also make it a competitor to digital assistants like Google Assistant, Apple's Siri, and Amazon's Alexa.
OpenAI is set to release a beta version of this feature in the coming days for paid ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro users. Users will be able to schedule tasks in the browser or through the OpenAI ChatGPT apps.
